Good day Community,
This is the second newsletter. There are several things going on in our wonderful community.
At the Community level,
I want to use this community highlight to talk about some of the awesome events that the library has going on!
2/11 at 11:15am to 12:00pm its toddler storytime for all you wonderful parents who want to share the wonders of reading with their toddler
2/11 at 6:00pm to 7:30pm is Undercurrents: Current Events Discussion Group. You can talk about everything on your mind or even bring up the events brought up in this newsletter
2/12 at 1:30pm to 2:30pm is 4H for Homeschoolers for everyone who needs extracurricular in their homeschool schedule
2/12 at 4:00pm is the Teen Lounge so teenagers can do things I
can't imaging being a 31 year old.
2/12 at 6:30pm to 7:30pm is WAGS (Wonderful Animals Giving Support). This is where you can spend time with therapy dogs. It is just as good as it sounds.
2/14 at 3:00pm to 4:00pm is the English Conversation Club. This is where our community comes together to empower its immigrant community members.

At the City level,
The owner of Please and Thank You donut shop Brooke Vaughn, has sent a memo to her employees telling them to "leave religion and politics at the door". This was sparked because an ICE agent had entered the bakery and was treated rudely and received several mean looks from staff.
I want to make it clear I stand against ICE. Just as ICE officers make it uncomfortable for our community members to leave their homes, we have a duty as community members to make them uncomfortable when they leave their homes.

At the State level,
The Kentucky State Senate has introduced KY Senate bill 160. This bill establishes standards for the Cabinet for Health and Family Services to consider determining whether to correct a childcare facility, or to revoke the license of a childcare facility. This is a direct response to the fraudulent Minneapolis Somali Daycare accusations and another way to distract from real issues that are happening around like the affordability crisis.
